Being new business owners, part of our efforts in networking and making new industry connections included joining different organizations. One of the organizations that we joined was The Young Construction Leaders of Manitoba (YCLM). This is a group of under-40 professionals, working in Manitoba’s construction industry, with the goal of providing members with education, mentorship and networking as they progress through the early part of their careers. We asked a few of our promising and eligible field staff as well as our Estimator if they would like to join this network.
This year, we attended a number of events with this organization. The Annual Wine and Cheese at the Candian Museum for Human Rights was an excellent networking event with great people and great food. Check out the rest of our photos from this event here.
We also had sent a Foreman and one of our service journeymen for an afternoon at the ball park to watch the Winnipeg Goldeyes take on the Texas AirHogs from a Sky Suite at Shaw Park – they were both new to networking events but really enjoyed the change of pace and introducing themselves to some other Winnipeg construction talent which partnered on this event with BOMA‘s group for young property management professionals and service providers.
Four of us took the sneak peek tour of the high profile True North Square development during construction with tour guides from PCL Constructors Canada Inc., Crosier Kilgour & Partners Ltd. and Architecture 49. We closed off the evening by kicking-off summer with a rooftop patio party across the street at Tavern United.
Our experience with the YCLM group so far has been excellent – the cost is reasonable and the value for the price is outstanding and we would recommend signing up your eligible construction industry staff to attend these events.
