Level 2 or 3 Electrical Apprentice – 1 open position

Position Details:

Position: Level 2 or 3 Electrical Apprentice

Permanent, Full-time – hourly, as required

Start date: ASAP

Compensation:

  • $18.70-$24.31/hour, paid out bi-weekly
  • Vacation time paid out

Responsibilities:

Our Electrical Apprentice Level 1 will report to the Director of Operations and work on a variety of commercial jobsites with a qualified Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson. Work includes: learning new trade skills and electrical code, getting familiar with electrical products and wholesalers, driving to jobsites to do material drops, taking garbage to the dump, cleaning the shop, filling out timesheets, worksheets, and other safety paperwork, and various other duties.

The hired candidate will be signed up as an apprentice with our company and have hours tracked and submitted. Further apprentice level schooling will be scheduled based on hours, anniversary date, coordination with other apprentices, and project schedules.

Requirements for the position:

  • be a valid Level 2 or Level 3 Electrical Apprentice, according to Apprenticeship Manitoba records, with an updated Bluebook or profile
  • have at least 800 recorded hours in the field (i.e. not counting hours from schooling) and no more than 5000 total recorded hours
  • knowledgeable on the safe and effective use of power tools and hand tools
  • possess a willingness to learn and the drive to ask questions and learn from the answers given; positive attitude and safety driven
  • able to work as part of a team
  • comfortable working from heights and in confined spaces
  • have a valid class 5 driver’s license, a clean driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle
  • are legally entitled to work in Manitoba and are a permanent resident of Canada
  • are fluent in English: verbal, written, and comprehension
  • have a clean Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry (digital fingerprinting and security checks will be done immediately)
  • have a flexible working schedule and can show up on time, according to the job’s specific start time and location
  • always present yourself in a professional manner – language, attitude, and appearance on-site: are friendly and polite

Journeyperson Electrician – 1 open position

Position Details:

Position: Journeyperson Electrician

Permanent/full time – hourly, as required

Start date: ASAP

Salary: ICI Construction standards, paid out bi-weekly

Responsibilities:

Our Journeyperson Electrician will report to the Director of Operations. Work will include commercial renovations, new construction, and service work. Responsibilities will also include teaching and training any apprentices on sites, managing small crews, completing daily and weekly paperwork, and representing the company to customers.

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations, Run tests on electrical components to ensure a safe and effective installation, Inspect electrical systems and equipment for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards, Communicate any issues to clients
  • communicating with the office on job progress – RFI submittals, material required, crew required, upcoming tasks (providing 1-2 week look-ahead), equipment required, reviewing material packages against specs/drawings, attending site meetings, etc
  • ensure work is of highest quality and customer satisfaction is met – recommending job improvements and alternate solutions (problem solving)
  • manage and work with subcontractors
  • Create as-built drawings
  • Teach, train, and task apprentices on site – ensure they are productive, work is done correctly
  • Complete weekly/daily paperwork including but not limited to: timesheets, worksheets, vehicle inspections, shop inspections, hazard assessments, etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all MG customers, including keeping the customers and the office informed on the progress of work and handling any issues that arise
  • Lead small crews, manage tasks and schedules, monitor quality of work, and ensure safety
  • Maintain all equipment to a high standard of cleanliness and working order
  • Safety oriented: lead by example while applying MG’s safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in training and events as required

 Requirements for the position:

  • Have a Red Seal Certified Licensed Journeyperson Electrician
  • minimum 3 years experience in ICI Construction as a Journeyperson
  • Experience and confidence in instructing, training, and supervising apprentices
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting: Fire Alarms, Distribution
  • Experience with service work and service calls (customer driven)
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience in creating as-built drawings
  • Experience using lifts
  • Have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract, access to own vehicle, and a cell phone
  • No Criminal Record and be able to pass a Child Abuse Registry Check (digital fingerprinting completed after hiring)
  • Must be a current resident of Manitoba and a permanent Canadian resident
  • physically able to stand, sit, bend, squat, crouch, for long periods of time, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, must be able to lift and move 50lbs
  • Able to participate in on call rotation (only if provided with a company vehicle/cell phone) and able to work overtime or evenings/night/weekend shifts as required

Journeyperson Plumber/Gasfitter – 1 open position

Position Details:

Position: Journeyperson Plumber and Gas Fitter

Permanent/full time – hourly, as required

Start date: ASAP

Salary: $37.00-$38.25, depending on experience, paid out bi-weekly

Responsibilities:

Our Journeyperson Plumber and Gas Fitter will report to the Director of Operations. Work will include commercial renovations, new construction, and service work. Responsibilities will also include teaching and training any apprentices on sites, managing small crews, completing daily and weekly paperwork, and representing the company to customers.

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to install, assemble, repair, program, and/or remove plumbing, heating, and cooling equipment: boilers, pipes, fittings, pumps, water lines, hot water tanks, fixtures, make-up air units, furnaces, drainage systems, etc.
  • Inspect systems for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards, communicate findings to client and create an efficient plan to repair or replace.
  • provide weekly work schedules to field staff based on work on hand; review material required and work with office staff on placing orders; provide office with details on RFIs or PCNs; review shop drawings as required.
  • Create as-built drawings
  • Pull water lines, fire caulking, thread pipe, solder, trench
  • Teach, train, and task apprentices on site – ensure they are productive, work is done correctly
  • Complete weekly/daily paperwork including but not limited to: timesheets, worksheets, vehicle inspections, shop inspections, hazard assessments, etc.
